As the only children's hospital in British Columbia, the major focus of the Department of Pediatrics is the provision of secondary and tertiery care for the children and youth of British Columbia. Clinical care is provided within 18 divisions and additional multidisciplinary clinics and programs.

Clinical care is primarily provided within BC Children's Hospital (BCCH), located in Vancouver, British Columbia. The BCCH facility has 192 beds providing care to the smallest premature infants, children and  high school youth. Approximately 7,000 to 8,000 infants are delivered on site each year.
